Overview:
Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a dedicated, full-time Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Neonatologist to join our dynamic practice at Stormont Vail Healthcare in Topeka, Kansas. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to work in a well-established Level III NICU within a vibrant Midwest city known for its affordability and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive neonatal care within a Level III NICU with 36 beds.
- Deliver a full spectrum of neonatal services, including high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide therapy, total body cooling, and amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG).
- Participate in a rotation comprising 8- and 24-hour shifts over a 7-week schedule, with approximately 170 hours of in-house coverage per month at 1.0 FTE.
- Serve as in-house Neonatologist with backup call from home, ensuring continuous patient care.
- Collaborate with pediatric subspecialists in Cardiology, Neurology, General Surgery, and Endocrinology.
- Contribute to maintaining the NICU’s longstanding certification from The Joint Commission for the Care of Premature Babies since 2012.
- Engage in multidisciplinary teamwork to optimize outcomes for approximately 500 annual admissions, with an average daily census of 26 and an average length of stay of 19 days.
- Support the training and mentorship of pediatric and neonatology fellows, especially those recently graduated and already Board Certified in Pediatrics.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- MD or DO degree.
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Neonatology.
- Board Eligible candidates may be considered, with certification required upon completion of fellowship.
- LIC in Kansas or ability to obtain licensure.
- Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule.
- J1 and H1B visa sponsorship available.
