Permanent Neonatology Physician in Kansas City, Missouri.

Shift: In-house NICU coverage with 24/7 Neonatal Nurse Practitioner support
Position Details:
Patient Population: Critically ill neonates, premature infants, and extremely low gestational age newborns (ELGAN), including infants as young as 22 weeks
Setting: 49-bed Level IIIB NICU with additional oversight/support for Level IIIA and Level II NICUs and well-baby units
Responsibilities:
- Provide in-house neonatal care coverage at the main Level IIIB NICU
- Manage critically ill neonates using advanced respiratory and therapeutic interventions
- Care for extremely premature infants and complex neonatal cases
- Support more than 450 annual NICU admissions with an average daily census of 30 patients
- Collaborate with board-certified neonatologists and neonatal nurse practitioners
- Provide oversight and support to affiliated Level IIIA and Level II NICUs
- Participate in out-of-house coverage supported by telehealth services
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and neonatal care coordination
- Contribute to regional delivery services and neonatal program development
- Pursue clinical and academic interests within the practice
Required Procedures:
- Inhaled Nitric Oxide (iNO)
- High-Frequency Oscillatory Ventilation (HFOV)
- High-Frequency Jet Ventilation (HFJV)
- Therapeutic Hypothermia
- Advanced Neonatal Critical Care Management
- Care of Extremely Premature Infants
Support Staff: Board-Certified Neonatologists, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners providing 24/7 in-house support, nursing staff, telehealth support teams, and multidisciplinary neonatal care teams
Days Per Month: Full-Time
On-Call/Weekends: Continuous coverage including weekends; out-of-house coverage supported by telehealth and 24/7 NNP support
Requirements:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
- Missouri Medical License or willingness to obtain
- Clean malpractice and license history highly preferred
- Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days)
- DEA required prior to start date
- Must specify visa sponsorship requirements (J1/H1B)
- Eligible for hospital credentialing and neonatal practice privileges
