Permanent Medical Director - Neonatology
Join a leading Neonatology group in Roanoke, Virginia! We are seeking a full-time Medical Director or Associate Medical Director to lead our team of 10 neonatologists and 5 neonatal nurse practitioners at a regional perinatal center. Experience advanced neonatology medicine while enjoying the vibrant small-town lifestyle nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide expert neonatal care at our 60-bed regional perinatal center and 6-bed Level 2 NICU.
- Manage and lead NICU operations as Medical Director or participate as Associate Medical Director, ensuring high-quality clinical care and operational excellence.
- Oversee advanced NICU services including high-frequency ventilation, whole body cooling, and nitric oxide therapy.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary pediatric and maternal-fetal medicine subspecialists, pediatric surgeons, and neonatology team members.
- Support medical education by working with Virginia Tech School of Medicine students and residents (pediatric and family practice).
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and participate in research projects within the Virginia Neonatal Perinatal Collaborative.
- Provide clinical coverage including day shifts, on-call, and weekend duties as needed.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies and participate in leadership meetings and committees.
- This is a permanent, full-time position that requires residency within the immediate local area.
- Accepting visa candidates (J1 Visa Only) with sponsorship available.
Qualifications:
- Board Eligible (within 5 years of residency) or Board Certified in Neonatology - [REQUIRED]
- Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain – [REQUIRED]
- Clean malpractice and medical license history – [HIGHLY PREFERRED]
- Recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active) - [REQUIRED]
- Willingness to relocate if not currently residing in the area – [REQUIRED]
- DEA (must be obtained prior to start) - [REQUIRED]
License and Certification Requirements:
- Board Certified (BC) or Board Eligible (BE) Neonatologist
- Neonatal leadership experience required for Medical Director role
- Virginia medical license or willingness to obtain
