NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, located in the heart of Brooklyn, accommodate more than 518,076 outpatient visits, more than 141,328 emergency room visits, and with 627 beds, more than 25,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.
Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Associate Clinical Director of CPEP, the provider will:
- Provide clinical supervision to all Attending Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and allied health professionals in the CPEP and Mobile Crisis
- Oversee CPEP and EOB -
- Policies and procedures regulating delivery of patient care on the service
- Coordination of care between disciplines and functioning of interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Supervision and coordination of CPEP/EOB clinical care
- Establishing, monitoring and maintaining professional standards of work in collaboration with other disciplines coordination of professional staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Monitoring workload and work assignments and effecting staff and program changes to ensure highest quality of patient care.
- Liaises with other departments inpatient behavioral health services, Ambulatory settings, and transfer to other facilities
- Policies and procedures regulating delivery of patient care on the service
- Quality assurance, performance improvement and regulatory affairs:
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of standards for certification by regulatory agencies including adherence to EMTALA.
- Work with CPEP/EOB staff to ensure compliance with corrective action plans.
- Participates in relevant Pl & QA activities and initiatives, both locally and in collaboration with hospital wide quality endeavors.
- Maintains awareness of performance improvement indicator and interventions and initiatives to meet goals for the service.
- Work with clinicians in reducing LOS in CPEP
- Making sure appropriate patients gets admitted to EOB
- Provides clinical consultation and supervision as needed to all staff in the CPEP including trainees
- Conducts and coordinates tier reviews as per policy
- Maintains focus on key strategic priorities including patient experience, access to care.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of standards for certification by regulatory agencies including adherence to EMTALA.
- Education and supervision:
- Ensure and monitor that the pharmacological components of treatment plan reflect the exercise of professional judgement for the medication treatment including diagnosis, target symptoms, risk and benefits of particular medication, and consideration of alternate treatments.
- Include all above in standards of work expected of Attending and Nurse Practitioner and monitor and reinforce said standards of work
- Teach and supervise psychiatry trainees and medical students
- Ensure and monitor that the pharmacological components of treatment plan reflect the exercise of professional judgement for the medication treatment including diagnosis, target symptoms, risk and benefits of particular medication, and consideration of alternate treatments.
Qualifications:
- Must be board certified in Adult Psychiatry
- M.D. or D.O. from an accredited school of medicine
- Completed residency training in an accredited program within Psychiatry
- License to practice medicine in the State of New York
- At least two-three years of education, training, and/or experience in psychiatry services
- At least 1-2 yrs of leading clinical program like CPEP
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
