The Jacobi Medical Center/North Central Bronx (Jacobi/NCB) Department of Medicine is recruiting a skilled geriatrician to lead and build a robust Geriatric Division within the Department of Medicine at our Jacobi Medical Center and North Central Bronx Hospital to enhance the care of our elderly population. The selected candidate will be the inaugural director of the Division of Geriatrics within the Jacobi/NCB Department of Medicine. We are also simultaneously recruiting four full time geriatric physicians for this Division with two practicing at the Jacobi Medical Center and two at North Central Bronx Hospital.

We are located in the North Bronx and care for a diverse and highly vulnerable population. The director will initially focus on providing high quality compassionate care to our ambulatory geriatric patients working with our dedicated team of full time academic primary care internists. In addition, the program will include inpatient geriatric consultation for the Department of Medicine and other departments as needed. The clinical care at Jacobi/NCB is integrated with the education of our internal medicine residents and students at both hospitals. Other team members will include geriatricians, NP support, geriatric psychologists and psychiatrists, nursing and social work support along with four full time attending geriatric physicians.

Responsibilities:

The position comes with a faculty appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Teaching responsibilities include both didactic and clinical teaching of medical students and residents. The selected candidate will work to create innovative educational experiences in the training of individuals caring for a growing aging population. The ideal candidate will be board certified in Internal Medicine and will have completed an accredited geriatric fellowship. At least 5 years of clinical experience post fellowship is preferred. It is essential for the selected individual to be a strong collaborative leader, team player and driven innovator.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • Board Certification in Geriatrics
  • Possess or eligible for a New York State Medical License
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience post fellowship is preferred
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required prior to hire

Base salary range - $200,000
