NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health formerly Coney Island, located in Southern Brooklyn, accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery.

We are currently accepting applications for a full-time Director of Primary Care.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with appropriate medical leadership to provide clinical direction to direct reports, set patient care standards, establish clinical goals and objectives to ensure the strategic implementation of best practices and program development in their respective disciplines.
  • Provide clinical and administrative guidance to medical staff within the division.
  • Engage in strategic planning with hospital executive and clinical leadership to develop programming within their respective discipline which aligns with overall hospital strategic plan.
  • Develop and collect performance metrics which the facility may utilize to plan, implement or conduct quality patient care programs.
  • Develop Performance Improvement Projects.
  • Ensure the regular and appropriate assessment of physician, physician assistant, and nurse practitioner competency, and intervene and remediate as appropriate.
  • Provide clinical supervision of CDTM Pharmacists, Chronic Disease Coordinator and the Community Health Worker Program and staff.
  • Prepare division staff schedules.
  • Review, approve/deny and sign off on leave of absence requests, including CME, time sheets and session sheets.
  • Collaborate with the Medicine Residency Program Directors to schedule educational sessions and clinic sessions for medical students and residents.
  • Provide direct patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine preferred
  • Active or pending NYS License
  • Minimum 5 years of post graduate clinical experience as a Primary Care physician
  • Previous experience managing performance metrics and care collaboration preferred
  • Cultural sensitivity to a diverse staff and patient population required
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required prior to hire
