The Georgia Department of Corrections is seeking a board certified/board eligible physician to serve as the Deputy Medical Director. The DOC office is located in Forsyth, GA, 20 miles north of Macon.

Minimum Qualifications: Fully licensed to practice medicine in the state of Georgia, current DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) registration, Board Certified or Board eligible in primary care specialty (family practice, internal medicine) and CPR certification. The Office of Health Services provides the required constitutional level of healthcare in the most efficient, cost-effective, and humane manner possible, while protecting the public health interests of the citizens of Georgia.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Provide the clinical direction needed to meet the service delivery requirements of constitutional healthcare. Routinely visit sites to ensure the best possible care is provided. Chair or participates in various committees to include Continuous Quality Improvement, Infection Control and Pharmacy and Therapeutics. Interface with agency clinical and administrative leadership on issues related to medical services. Functions as a consultant for the medical staff. Demonstrates experience as a primary care provider preferably in a correctional health care setting. Demonstrates experience leading, directing and or managing care in a primary care setting.

Primary work location is State Offices South at Tift College (SOSTC), located in Forsyth, Georgia. SOSTC is located at exit 186 of I-75, approximately 1 hour south of metro Atlanta and 20 minutes north of Macon. Remote work is permitted and supported.

Salary commensurate with experience.
