Medical Director of Hospital Medicine opening in Newburyport, MA Full-Time | 0.5 Clinical / 0.5 Administrative | Hospital Medicine Leadership A community hospital in coastal Massachusetts is seeking a full-time Medical Director of Hospital Medicine to lead daily operations, clinical quality, provider engagement, and patient-centered inpatient care. Opportunity Highlights:

  • Lead and shape the Department of Hospital Medicine
  • 0.5 clinical and 0.5 administrative role
  • Oversee daily workflow, hospitalist coverage, patient flow, staffing needs, and clinical concerns
  • Serve as Administrator-On-Call for the department
  • Support recruitment, candidate interviews, APP support, onboarding, and FPPE for new providers
  • Address clinical performance, professionalism, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support stroke improvement efforts and hospital-wide initiatives
  • Participate in key committees, including Hospital Medicine, Peer Review, Stroke, Code, Patient Experience, and ED-Hospital Medicine-ICU collaboration
  • Facilitate communication around discharges, transfers, telemetry downgrades, and real-time concerns from nursing and ancillary staff Compensation and Benefits:
  • Base salary range: $289,000 - $322,000
  • Generous Medical Director stipend included as part of the total compensation package
  • Potential eligibility for performance-based incentive compensation
  • Productivity and quality bonus opportunities may be available
  • Additional benefits to be discussed during the interview process Candidate Requirements:
  • MD or DO
  • Hospital Medicine background
  • Massachusetts medical license or eligibility
  • Interest or experience in physician leadership, inpatient operations, quality improvement, and team development
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work closely with hospital leadership, APPs, physicians, nursing, and ancillary teams
