Overview:
Our practice in Birmingham is seeking a Medical Director to lead clinical operations for a pain management service, overseeing care for patients with chronic, noncancer-related pain. This role offers a flexible schedule with no nights, weekends, or on-call requirements.

Position Offers:

  • Schedule: Flexible
    • Monday–Thursday or 3–4 days per week
    • Clinic hours: 7:00 AM–5:30 PM
  • Competitive compensation: $225,000–250,000 (DOE)
  • No nights, weekends, or on-call requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage medication therapy and lead clinical operations for the pain management service, ensuring safe, effective, patient-centered care
  • Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits, developing and adjusting individualized treatment plans
  • Supervise and mentor APPs and midlevel providers, providing clinical guidance, case review, and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate comprehensive patient care
  • Review diagnostic findings, prescribe appropriate therapies, and monitor treatment response and safety
  • Develop, implement, and update clinical protocols and best practices aligned with current guidelines
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements, including documentation and quality metrics
  • Participate in practice leadership meetings, contributing to strategic planning and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Fellowship training in pain management or equivalent advanced training strongly preferred
  • Active, current medical licensure in Alabama, or eligibility for licensure
  • Current board certification in relevant specialty; subspecialty certification in pain management preferred
  • Current DEA registration and any additional controlled substance certifications
