Midwest Express Clinic (MEC), one of the Midwest's leading and fastest growing urgent care enterprises, has exclusively retained AMN Healthcare to lead the search for an inspirational, visible, action-oriented and engaging physician leader to serve as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to transform healthcare delivery for all clinical services across their growing network of Urgent Care and Primary Care locations
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and to the Private Equity (PE) board, the CMO will lead clinical operations, recruitment, retention and development of the clinical teams and oversight for all clinics in the MEC network. The CMO will possess the ability to lead and partner with MEC executives, local clinical leaders, clinical providers, and senior operation leaders. The CMO will ensure the appropriate organizational structure (people, processes, systems) is in place, providers practice at the top of their license, and is responsible for achieving profitable growth, clinical excellence, service standards and regulatory compliance. The CMO will work with the leadership team on strategic initiatives, new programs, care delivery standardization and general operations to achieve company goals.
The CMO will oversee the organization’s physician and advanced practice provider workforce and ensure consistent standards of clinical care, productivity, and patient outcomes across more than 50 clinic locations. This role will also lead the development of clinical governance frameworks, quality measurement systems, and provider engagement initiatives that support scalable growth.
Qualifications (including but not limited to):
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and completion of a postgraduate medical education in an ACGME approved residency program in a medical specialty with current Board Certification
- MBA, MHA or additional leadership training highly preferred
- Active or eligibility for medical licensure in Illinois and Indiana
- Prior experience as a chief/senior senior physician executive
- Experience in urgent care, retail medicine, or large ambulatory care networks
- Demonstrated experience working in high-growth or private equity–backed healthcare organizations highly preferred
- Strong understanding of healthcare economics, productivity metrics, and clinical performance management
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing physicians and advanced practice providers
