Scope
The Regional Chief Medical Officer (RCMO) is a member of the Region Executive Team (RET) and a senior enterprise clinical leader. The RCMO is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient care across acute care hospitals, ambulatory delivery assets, and the employed medical group. The RCMO works collaboratively with the region president, region Chief Nursing Officer, hospital administrators, medical directors, and other key stakeholders to align clinical strategy, operations, and performance with Intermountain Health mission, vision, and values. The Region CMO serves as a key leader in advancing our integrated health system's mission, promoting clinical excellence, fostering collaboration and supporting the implementation of Value Based Care initiatives.
Essential Job Duties
- Provides clinical oversight and direction for the region, ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards.
- Leads the development and implementation of clinical services, policies, and initiatives that support the region's strategic goals and objectives.
- Supports and champions clinical and strategic growth across the region including growth in Proactive Care and Children’s Health.
- Serves as liaison to Clinical Excellence Committee of the Region Board.
- Champions the adoption and integration of evidence-based practices, clinical protocols, and best practices across the region in close collaboration with Intermountain Health Clinical Programs.
- Supports the recruitment, retention, development, and engagement of physicians and advanced practice professionals in the region.
- Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships with independent and affiliate physicians and APPs across markets and regions.
- Fosters a culture of collaboration, communication, and accountability among the clinical leaders and staff in the region.
- Represents the region's clinical interests and perspectives in enterprise-level decision making and planning.
- Builds and maintains effective relationships with internal and external partners, including community organizations, academic institutions, and other health care entities.
- Advocates for the needs and interests of the patients, families, and communities served by the region.
- Participates in ongoing professional development and education activities to maintain and enhance clinical expertise and leadership skills.
- Drives clinical integration and collaboration across the region and the enterprise, leveraging the Intermountain Operating Model and the clinical governance structure.
- Develops and empowers strong teams of clinical leaders who can effectively manage the clinical operations and performance of the region.
- Works collaboratively with nursing and enterprise clinical and non-clinical shared services to optimize the delivery of care and the use of resources.

Minimum Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Education is verified.
- Board certification in a clinical specialty recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.
- Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Nevada, Utah, Colorado or Montana or eligible to obtain one.
- Minimum of 10 years of clinical experience and 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a health care organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in clinical quality improvement, patient safety, population health, and health care delivery systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and ethical behavior.
- Commitment to the Intermountain Health mission, vision, and values.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a CMO or equivalent position in an integrated health system
- MBA, MHA, MMM, or equivalent
This is an exempt, full-time position with a compensation range of $660,300 - $759,700, annually, and as determined by prior years of relevant experience. With this position, you are eligible to participate in the Annual Pay for Performance (AP4P) Plan. This plan enables Intermountain Health to provide leaders with an additional performance compensation opportunity. The AP4P award opportunities are calculated as a percentage of your base salary. Awards are paid out based on attainment of selected Board-approved goals.
