About Tule River Indian Health Center (TRIHCI)
TRIHCI is a tribally governed healthcare organization serving Native American communities in Tulare County. We provide culturally sensitive, patient-centered care across primary care, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and public health services. Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Medical Director to lead our clinical team. This role begins as a locum assignment with a clear pathway to permanent placement.
Schedule:
- 3 days/week – Direct patient care
- 2 days/week – Administrative and leadership duties
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care services
- Oversee clinical operations and supervise providers
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and track metrics
- Develop and maintain clinical policies and protocols
- Mentor mid-level providers and clinical staff
- Ensure regulatory compliance (IHS, Medi-Cal, Medicare)
- Engage with the community and represent TRIHCI at events
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Board-certified/eligible in Family or Internal Medicine
- Unrestricted CA medical license (or eligibility)
- 5+ years of clinical experience, including leadership
- Experience with quality improvement and rural healthcare
- Strong communication and cultural competency skills
