Medical Clinical Information Officer Opportunity in Atchison, KS
Position: Medical Clinical Information Officer (MCIO)
Employment Type: Part-Time (4-8 hrs/week, Non-Benefit Eligible)
Location: Atchison, KS
Overview:
The group, a rural critical access hospital, is seeking a part-time MCIO to bridge clinical practice and technology. This physician leader will drive EHR optimization, clinical system integration, and data quality initiatives to improve patient care and workflow efficiency. This is an administrative role requiring strong collaboration with clinical and IT teams and may require occasional on-site presence for implementations and upgrades.
Responsibilities:
Evaluate and optimize clinical workflows and EHR functionality
Lead development of clinical decision support tools and evidence-based practices
Uphold data quality and integrity standards; oversee data cleansing and reporting initiatives
Educate clinical teams on system capabilities and best practices
Direct implementation and upgrades of clinical systems with minimal disruption
Provide informatics leadership and project management support
Engage clinicians and stakeholders to align systems with clinical goals
Qualifications:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Active Kansas medical license required
CPR certification required
Minimum of EMR proficiency and understanding of clinical workflows, medical terminology, and healthcare practices
2-3 years of clinical informatics experience preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Familiarity with EHR configuration, data analysis, and clinical system reporting
Proven ability to lead projects and multidisciplinary teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage change and build consensus among stakeholders
