Our client, a top teaching hospital in New York City, is hiring a an experienced surgical oncologist to be the Director of the Cancer Center. The comprehensive Cancer Center provides a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services for patients. These services begin with cancer prevention and early detection efforts followed by diagnosis, multidisciplinary planning and treatment as well as rehabilitation and support services.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Queens Cancer Center building on its existing infrastructure
  • Create new areas of expertise in cancer prevention, screening and treatment.
  • Join the faculty in the Department of Surgery.
  • Administrative oversight of the clinical operations, quality and safety metrics
  • Implementation of the Cancer Center’s growth strategies to support the institution’s clinical expansion mission
  • Work closely with the executive leadership on institutional operations and strategic development and collaboration with the hospital’s clinical departments to facilitate inter-departmental cancer research and novel clinical trial development.
Qualifications:
  • Medical degree from an accredited university.
  • A valid New York State License, DEA and Medicaid number.
  • Board eligibility or certification in Surgical Oncology.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, personable bedside manner and strong organizational skills. .
  • Prior leadership experience required.
  • An exemplary system work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, people-centered health system.
  • Builds and maintains supportive relationships with diverse groups including nursing and physician colleagues, hospital administration, other departments and outside agencies.
