**Associate Medical Director Opening in Greater Sacramento, California** MD/DO Compensation Range (Dependent Upon Experience): $111.00 - $144.30 per hour **About the Position:** - FTE: 40 hours per week will be expected to have 8-10 hours administrative and management time and 30-32 hours clinical practice time per week. - Permanent position - The Associate Medical Director (AMD) works under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure the highest level of clinical quality and patient care within Family Practice (Adult Medicine). The AMD has responsibility for overseeing and managing the clinical performance of clinical providers in Family Practice at designated practice sites. The AMD will present the concerns of the clinicians practicing within Family Practice to the CMO and other administrators, and relay directives, recommendations and concerns from the CMO and other administrators to the clinicians within Family Practice. The AMD will promote integration with and transition between other clinical services with health system, including (but not limited to) Behavioral Health, Dentistry, Pediatrics, Women's Health, Specialty Care, and Care Management. The AMD is to be a role model to other clinicians for clinical quality, positive interactions, problem-solving, ethical conduct, and professionalism. - As a Clinical Leadership position, the AMD will be expected to demonstrate initiative and self-directed behavior, and will be responsible for demonstrating results and/or progress in management and performance indicators. **Job Duties and Responsibilities:** *Medical Management:* - Be highly knowledgeable in Family Practice by maintaining high level of clinical expertise, utilizing the most current sources and guidelines, and being familiar with changing standards of practice. - Regularly monitor and oversee the performance of clinicians practicing Family Practice with respect to established performance indicators, including peer review. Assist Chief Medical Officer in annual performance appraisals of clinicians within Family Practice. - Develop strategies to improve the performance of clinicians or sites lagging in any performance indicators. - Help in reviewing, modifying, and developing health system Policies and Procedures and clinic workflows as relevant to Family Practice. - Develop optimal templates, accelerators, and other workflows in Family Practice for the Electronic Health Record. - Monitor resource and referral utilization within Family Practice and assist in identifying additional resources to improve provider and patient access to specialty care. Help to create standards and standard procedures for the most common referrals. - Meet regularly with the Chief Medical Officer to review clinical issues, clinician performance, and strategic initiatives and priorities. - Attend and participate in meetings as required or requested. - Comply with all laws and regulations regarding corporate integrity and security obligations; report unethical, fraudulent or unlawful behavior or activity. - Foster an environment that promotes trust, cooperation, and accountability among all Center staff. *Clinical Services:* - Provide comprehensive medical services to patients at a high level of care and quality consistent with Family Practice scope of practice in a community clinic environment, including taking appropriate health history, performing physical examination, completing medical work-up, performing or ordering appropriate lab, imaging, and other tests, prescribing, ordering referrals, and implementing appropriate therapy according to standard medical practice. Address urgent, chronic, and preventive medical needs on an ongoing basis. - Obtain appropriate consults when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the clients care. - Facilitate transfer of care to other clinicians when religious or personal beliefs interfere with the clinicians ability to offer full care options. - Provide health education to Center clients and their families and answer questions, and work closely with other clinic staff to recruit and retain the appropriate care managers that provide these services; expand and grow the overall provision of appropriate education and information, including follow-up, for patients. - Provide patient-centered, compassionate, culturally sensitive care that addresses the full scope of patients health needs. - Maintain overall efficiency of care delivery standards at or above the practice goal in order to sustain fiscal viability while maintaining high quality medical care as well as to demonstrate for the rest of the medical staff that the practice goal is reasonable and attainable with the support provided by the non-medical staff. - Answer messages and sign off on clinical reports (consults, lab, x-rays, etc.) in a timely manner. - Complete medical records in a timely manner on a daily basis with an appropriate level of documentation to support clinical care, coding and billing, compliance, and risk management. - Complete and submit all billing in an agreed upon timely manner. - Attend continuing education programs and provide evidence of necessary education completion to upgrade medical skills and maintain licensing requirements. **Requirements:** *Experience:* - At least 3 years of recent experience in outpatient primary care practice. - Experience in a FQHC setting preferred. - Previous management or leadership experience. Education and Licensing Requirements - Meet and maintain all criteria for EHCs Physician Credentialing/Privileges, including the following: - Completion of a M.D. or D.O. degree from an U.S. accredited medical school, school of osteopathy medicine, or FMG with ECFMG or Fifth pathway certification, with completion of a US accredited residency program in Family Practice, OR - Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program - Current Board Certification in Family Practice. - Current, valid and unrestricted State of California medical licensure. - Unrestricted ability to obtain Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other payor credentialing. - Current BLS certification. - ACLS or PALS certification desirable. *Additional Requirements:* - Must have a current and valid California drivers license and the ability to provide proof of personal auto insurance on the vehicle driven during working hours. - If selected for an employment opportunity, external hires must provide proof of immunizations (Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella & Tetanus), tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination status* prior to their scheduled start date.
