Job Responsibilities:

• Direct the ACGME accredited general surgery residency program
• Provide surgery residents with opportunities in research and clinical services across Long Island locations
• Provide surgery residents with exposure to a range of subspecialties
• Promote the health and wellbeing of the residents
• Bridge the core values of a traditional surgical training with the mandates of current training
• Negotiate the gap between the modern surgeon dependent on productivity with outdated concept of fixed salary
• Prioritize, for the program, patient care and academic growth
• Rekindle bedside care
• Practice and champion Socratic method in rounds, in the OR, and at conferences
• Foster preparedness and self-learning
• Maintain an active surgical practice
• Be a role model for residents and junior faculty
• Adjudicate both fairly and firmly
  
  

Job Requirements:

• MD or DO
• Board Certified in General Surgery
• A background in surgical research
• A resident advocate committed to education
• A good listener and an effective communicator
• A leader with a moral compass
• Possess strength of conviction and an open mind
• Ability to administer praise and impose discipline
