We are seeking a Board-Certified Locums Maternal Fetal Medicine Physician to provide inpatient and outpatient coverage in Detroit, Michigan. This opportunity includes high-risk obstetrical care, ultrasound interpretation, inpatient consultations, resident supervision, and call coverage.

Schedule & Call

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Weekday Coverage: In-house coverage for outpatient ultrasound and inpatient consult needs
  • Weeknight Call: Call coverage with phone consultations and inpatient support as needed
  • Weekend Call: 24-hour call coverage Saturday–Sunday
  • Call Back: Very minimal, approximately one callback per shift, if any
  • After January: Anticipated recurring coverage approximately twice per month:
    • In-house coverage Thursday–Friday
    • Call coverage Saturday–Sunday

Responsibilities

  • Round on and manage inpatient Maternal Fetal Medicine patients in collaboration with residents
  • Provide inpatient and phone consultations, with in-person evaluations as clinically indicated
  • Interpret and manage obstetrical ultrasound studies and related consultations
  • Supervise residents in the high-risk OB clinic as needed
  • Provide comprehensive care for high-risk and medically complex obstetrical patients
  • Collaborate with OB/GYN physicians, residents, and the multidisciplinary care team

No delivery coverage, GYN surgery, or GYN call coverage is required.

Required Procedures

  • Amniocentesis
  • Cerclage, including rescue cerclage
  • External cephalic version (ECV)

Preferred Procedures

  • Chorionic villus sampling (CVS)

Requirements

  • Board Certification in Maternal Fetal Medicine required
  • Active Michigan medical license or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Experience managing high-risk obstetrical patients
  • Strong ultrasound interpretation and consultation skills
