Job description
We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician for locum tenens coverage in Midlothian, Virginia. This position supports a high-volume MFM practice with a strong focus on high-risk pregnancies, providing both clinic and inpatient care.
Schedule & Call Coverage
- Clinic Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:15 PM
- Weekday Call: Nightly call coverage
- Weekend Call: 24-hour call coverage
- Weekend Requirements: Yes
- On-Call Requirements: Weekdays and weekends
Clinical Details
- Average Scheduled Patients per Day: 27
- High-Risk Pregnancy Volume: 95%
- Low-Risk Pregnancy Volume: 5%
- Nursery Level: Level III
- EMR: Epic, Viewpoint
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for high-risk obstetric patients in office and inpatient settings
- Perform consultations, diagnostic evaluations, and longitudinal management of complex maternal and fetal conditions
- Collaborate with OB/GYNs, neonatology, nursing, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Participate in call coverage for urgent and emergent MFM needs
- Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation in the EMR
Required Skills & Procedures
- Amniocentesis
- Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)
- Cerclage (preferred)
- Management
of high-risk conditions including:
- Pre-eclampsia and hypertension
- Multiple gestations
- Fetal growth restriction
- Chromosomal, congenital, and genetic abnormalities
- Pre-term labor
- Thrombophilia and genetic disorders
- Birth defects and complex maternal/fetal comorbidities
- Experience with vaginal and cesarean deliveries in high-risk settings
Qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine
- Completion of an accredited MFM fellowship
- Active Virginia medical license
- BLS certification
- AIUM certification
