Location: Phoenix, AZ (Phoenix Indian Medical Center, Indian Health Service)
Setting: Outpatient primary care
Engagement: Full-time locum, 40 hrs/week
Contract period: January 1, 2027 – December 31, 2027
Openings: Multiple. About 5,200 contract hours are available, so shorter or partial-year assignments may be possible.
Pay options: W-2 or 1099 (see below)
About the Role
We arerecruiting Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians to provide outpatient primary care at Phoenix Indian Medical Center. You will serve a patient population that may include pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes nursing, pharmacy, behavioral health, and case management. You will use independent clinical judgment, and the Government-furnished EHR for documentation.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic conditions
- Provide preventive care, routine health maintenance, and comprehensive H&Ps
- Develop treatment plans and manage medications
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostics
- Perform office-based procedures within granted privileges
- Refer to specialty care and coordinate follow-up
- Document every encounter accurately and on time in the EHR
- Provide patient education and counseling

Per diem eligibility and tax treatment apply to W-2 employees. Travel allowance is paid once, at assignment start.
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an LCME-, COCA-, or ECFMG-recognized school
- Completed ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Current, active, unrestricted U.S. medical license (any state, DC, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Current BLS certification
- Active DEA registration, when required for assigned duties
- At least 2 years of post-residency outpatient primary care experience
- EHR proficiency and strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in community health centers, rural health, Tribal health programs, Federal facilities, or IHS
- Ambulatory care background

Qualifications

At least 2 years of recent post-residency outpatient primary care experience in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Proficiency with electronic health record systems
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to pass Government credentialing, privileging, fingerprinting, and background investigation
Preferred
Experience in ambulatory care, community health centers, rural healthcare, Tribal health programs, Federal healthcare facilities, or the Indian Health Service
