  • Shift: 7 am Friday – 7 am Monday, 24-hour call with 8 hours of patient contact
  • Duration: October 23-25, December 28 – January 1, plus 1 weekend every other month
  • Hours/week: Variable, based on schedule

  • Licenses/Certs: Valid state medical license, COI and PCF required for full-year privileges
  • Experience: Prior ICU and pulmonary critically ill patient care preferred

What You’ll Do

  • Provide extensive pulmonary and critical care consultations for high-acuity hospitalized patients
  • Manage ICU and step-down unit patients across a 162-bed hospital
  • Support hospitalist teams with line placements, intubations, and emergency procedures
  • Collaborate with backup services including vascular and general surgery, anesthesia, and interventional cardiology
  • Participate in 24/7 in-house coverage alongside hospitalists (MD and APP)
  • Handle approximately 18 consults daily, primarily related to pulmonary and critical care needs
  • Maintain documentation and communication with multidisciplinary teams

What You Need

Required:

  • Valid medical license in Louisiana
  • Background check clearance (clean record)
  • Experience in ICU, pulmonary, or critical care settings
  • Ability to provide coverage during specified dates and weekends

Preferred:

  • Prior ICU or pulmonary critical care experience
  • Local or drive-in candidates available to enhance flexibility

About the Assignment

This role is based at a busy, high-capacity hospital in Slidell, with over 95% of patients admitted to hospital medicine services. The ICU features 30 beds, with an open model supported by 24/7 surgical, anesthesia, and interventional teams. Providers will have the opportunity to deliver top-tier pulmonary and critical care within a well-staffed, resource-rich environment.
