Locum Resident Preceptor Opportunity in MI!

ATC West Healthcare Services is seeking a locum Internal Medicine physician to serve as a Resident Preceptor in an outpatient clinic setting. The provider will supervise and guide internal medicine residents rather than manage their own independent patient panel. This role focuses on teaching, oversight, and supporting resident development in adult and geriatric care.

Dates & Schedule

• Coverage Period: June–July (approx. 12 weeks)
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Call Requirements: None
• Credentialing Timeframe: 90–120 days

Job Details & Responsibilities

• Serve as a preceptor for 4 internal medicine residents in a clinic-based setting
• Supervise resident-led patient care for adult and geriatric outpatient populations
• Provide clinical guidance, teaching, and oversight rather than managing an independent patient load
• Collaborate with clinic staff and an additional physician within a small group practice (2 physicians total)
• Ensure quality of care and adherence to clinical standards in a teaching environment
• Coverage is specifically to support maternity leave in the residency program
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Board Certification: Internal Medicine (required)
• Licensure: Active Michigan medical license (required)
• Certification: BLS (AHA) required
• Experience:
  • Adult and geriatric outpatient care
  • Supervising residents and clinic staff
• Availability: Must commit to full Monday–Friday clinic schedule
• Documentation: NPDB self-query (dated within 30 days at submission)
