SCHEDULE:
- Full-Time
- Monday to Friday
- 40 Hours per Week

COMPENSATION:
- $240,000 to $270,000+ Starting Base Salary, negotiable dependent on experience
- Annual Performance-Based Bonus, 5% to 15% of Base Salary

They currently boast a team of 11 physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who, along with dedicated nursing, clinical, and administrative team members, ensure that patients receive the best medical care possible while working diligently to remove access barriers. Their services include home-based primary care, palliative care, hospice care, chronic illness management, home health, counseling services, and more.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Medical Director is a senior clinical executive and member of the organizational leadership team. The position is responsible for setting the overall clinical direction of the house call practice and Medicare GUIDE dementia care program, ensuring that care delivery aligns with the organization's mission, value-based strategy, and growth objectives.
The Senior Medical Director ensures clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, evidence-based practice standards, and measurable performance outcomes. The role partners with the Chief Operating Officer in a dyad framework, sharing accountability for quality, growth, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
The overall areas of responsibility for the Senior Medical Director include:
- clinical leadership and strategy
- provider oversight and workforce development
- Medicare GUIDE program oversight
- regulatory and compliance oversight
- quality improvement and outcomes accountability
- population health and risk oversight
- operational and financial collaboration
This position will be approximately 60% direct patient care and 40% administrative leadership, with duties that include:
- maintain an active clinical practice within house calls and/or the GUIDE program
- participate in the house calls practice on-call rotation
- hold primary clinical authority of the house call practice and Medicare GUIDE programs
- supervise nurse practitioners and physician assistants
- interpret and modify clinical protocols / care pathways in alignment with standards
- oversee prescribing standards
- establish and revise documentation standards supporting billing integrity and compliance
- make clinical decisions in partnership with other leaders
The practice uses the AthenaCare EHR.
REQUIREMENTS:
- North Carolina medical license
- DEA
- Board Certification, relevant speciality (internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, etc.)
- 5+ years related clinical experience
- previous leadership experience strongly preferred
