Job description Associate Program Director – Internal Medicine Residency Location: Los Angeles, California Reports To: Program Director – Internal Medicine Residency REQUIRED – Executive Screening Checklist Education & Board Certification
  • MD or DO – REQUIRED
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine (ABIM or AOBIM) – REQUIRED
Licensure
  • California Medical License or Eligible – REQUIRED
Experience
  • Minimum 3 Years Clinical Experience in Internal Medicine (post-residency) – REQUIRED
  • Demonstrated Experience Teaching Residents and/or Medical Students – REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior GME Leadership Experience (Core Faculty, Committee Leadership, etc.)
  • Knowledge of ACGME Internal Medicine Program Requirements
  • Experience in Curriculum Development
  • Involvement in Scholarly Activity and/or Quality Improvement
  • Strong Organizational, Leadership, and Communication Skills
Position Overview The Associate Program Director (APD) supports the Program Director in oversight and administration of the ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program. This leadership role includes curriculum oversight, accreditation support, faculty engagement, resident mentorship, and program quality improvement. Core Responsibilities Educational Leadership
  • Assist in curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation aligned with ACGME requirements
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient clinical supervision
  • Participate in didactics and simulation training
  • Contribute to competency-based evaluations
  • Serve on the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC)
  • Assist with resident recruitment and onboarding
Program Administration
  • Support accreditation compliance and ACGME site visit preparation
  • Assist with Annual Program Evaluation and Institutional Review
  • Contribute to program policy development and scheduling
Faculty Development & Scholarship
  • Support faculty development initiatives
  • Promote and participate in research and quality improvement
  • Mentor residents in scholarly activity
Resident Support & Professionalism
  • Promote resident wellness initiatives
  • Provide mentorship and career guidance
  • Assist with professionalism concerns and remediation processes
