Seeking a full-time BE/BC Physician to join our group in East Central Oregon as Chief Medical Officer.
Position Summary:
- This is an opportunity to join a progressive rural health care organization and lead an experienced medical staff consisting of five Medicine Physicians, two Nurse Practitioners, one General Surgeon, and two CRNAs, and serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- 50% Administrative: Chief Medical Officer responsibilities, reporting to the CEO, serving as a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- 50% Clinical: Maintain an active clinical practice within their specialty, ensuring a continued connection to direct patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership in the alignment of physicians and providers with the mission, vision and values of the hospital.
- Participates in the development of the patient safety and clinical quality strategy, including the establishment of annual goals, performance targets, and metrics.
- Works closely with clinical departments to improve HCAHPS scores.
- Helps to establish the standard of care, evidence-based practices, improve clinical outcomes and disseminate best practices.
- Serve as physician advisor for case manager regarding utilization issues.
- Provides support and assistance to the Chief of Medical Staff, the members of the Medical Executive Committee, and the Medical Staff to assist them in their roles and to maximize the hospital’s culture of patient safety and quality.
- Chairs or supports key physician committees aimed at alignment of clinical programs, provider review, strategic planning, integration of standards of care, research and driving continuous improvement of quality and patient safety.
- Provides support to departmental medical directors (i.e., EMS, ER, Cardiopulmonary, OB, etc.)
- Coordinates and facilitates provider/hospital communication and alignment.
- Acts as a primary clinician liaison to the Board, the Quality Committee and the community.
- Facilitates physician leadership development and education.
- Facilitates collegial and effective working relations with all hospital and clinic clinicians.
- Assists hospital with physician recruitment.
- Promotes physician, hospital staff and patient satisfaction.
- Assists hospital in fulfilling all regulatory requirements (e.g., DNV, CMS/Federal, State).
- Helps formulate and implement population health strategy in conjunction with hospital staff, providers and community partners.
- Assists in addressing and documenting any disruptive physician/provider behavior issues.
- Assesses and improves physician/provider engagement scores.
- Manages various projects as assigned by the CEO.
