Join Our Prestigious Medical Team as an Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology Specialist

Are you a dedicated gastroenterologist with a passion for providing exceptional patient care? We are seeking highly qualified Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology providers to deliver comprehensive services across multiple scheduled blocks. In this vital role, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of procedures, including EGD, colonoscopy, pH studies, manometry, sigmoidoscopy, PEG/PEG-J tube placement, ERCP/EUS (preferred), capsule endoscopy, and Propofol sedation. The position requires full availability for entire scheduled blocks, with no partial coverage considered. You will operate within a team of experienced professionals in a facility equipped with four procedure rooms and advanced endoscopy suites utilizing Olympus equipment and integrated with Cerner, gGastro, and Athena systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide coverage on scheduled dates: March 25 (orientation), March 26–30, April 16–20, June 12–15, December 11–14
  • Manage patient care with an average of 12 patients per day
  • Conduct procedures independently in four specialized endoscopy suites
  • Complete all charting, pathology reviews, and communication with nursing staff regarding patient results and follow-up
  • Handle a 15-hour overnight call shift, including weekend call
  • Log all OT and CB hours accurately prior to submission

Required Skills:
  • Valid MI medical license and appropriate certifications
  • Proven experience in gastroenterology procedures listed above
  • Ability to perform independently without a scribe
  • Strong charting skills and familiarity with electronic medical records (Cerner, gGastro, Athena)
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure within a busy endoscopy suite

Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience with ERCP/EUS procedures
  • Familiarity with hydrogen breath testing
  • Capable of managing complex cases requiring advanced procedures

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Medical degree or DO from an accredited institution
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology
  • Minimum of 3 years of endoscopy experience in a hospital setting

Other Requirements:
  • Must be available for full coverage of all scheduled blocks; no partial shifts acceptable
  • Ability to review pathology results and communicate follow-up plans effectively
  • Immediate credentialing and billing enrollment completion preferred
  • No scribe support; complete all charting and clinical documentation independently
