Position Overview
Park West Health System (PWHS), a Federally Qualified Health Center in Baltimore, is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Chief of Medicine to provide clinical and administrative leadership for adult medicine services.
This role is structured as an approximate 70 percent clinical and 30 percent administrative split, allowing the Chief of Medicine to maintain an active adult patient panel while leading clinical standards, provider development, quality initiatives, and departmental operations. The position plays a key role in advancing high-quality, accessible care for underserved adult populations.
Qualifications
Education and Licensure
- Medical degree from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school, school of osteopathy, or valid ECFMG certification
- Active, unrestricted Maryland medical license
- Board certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
- Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years post-residency clinical experience
- Experience in ambulatory or community-based care settings
- AAHIVM and Hepatitis C certification preferred

Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide direct adult medicine clinical care consistent with the 70 percent clinical portion of the role
- Participate fully in the on-call rotation
- Develop, adopt, and oversee clinical protocols, practice guidelines, and standards for adult medicine
- Assist the Chief Medical Officer in policy development and decision-making related to adult medicine services
- Identify barriers and opportunities to improve adult medicine service delivery and recommend solutions
- Represent Park West Health System on adult medicine policy and clinical matters
- Provide leadership to ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and risk management standards
Provider Leadership and Department Operations
- Support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and retention of adult medicine providers
- Recommend providers for clinical privileges and conduct biannual provider performance evaluations
- Mentor and support adult medicine providers and assigned staff
- Arrange, lead, and document departmental meetings
- Utilize clinical and operational data to monitor provider performance and quality outcomes
- Coordinate clinical education, research, and community education activities
- Collaborate with hospitals, academic partners, and community stakeholders as needed
- Work collaboratively with organizational leadership and all disciplines in the absence of the Chief Medical Officer
