Join Our Team as an Internal Medicine – Hematology and Oncology Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated Internal Medicine physician specializing in Hematology and Oncology to fill a locum position starting January 2, 2026. This role offers the opportunity to influence patient outcomes significantly while enjoying competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver expert hematology and oncology inpatient and outpatient care within a well-established, COC-accredited program managing approximately 500 analytic cases annually.
- Provide coverage with flexible scheduling, including 2 weeks on/2 weeks off options; full-time preferred.
- Manage patient schedules from 9 AM to 4:30 PM with a one-hour lunch break, ensuring efficient patient care.
- Participate in a rotational call schedule, with weekday on-call duties via phone and 24-hour weekend call, without onsite after-hours responsibilities.
- Complete documentation and case logs in accordance with hospital policies and specialty requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, certification, and hospital privileging standards.
Required Skills:
- Active California medical license.
- Minimum of two years of recent hospital-based clinical activity in Hematology and Oncology.
- Proven experience with inpatient and outpatient care, including managing complex cases.
- Ability to provide timely and effective communication with patients and team members via phone.
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with hospital electronic medical records.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and management.
- Prior work in a Level 1 trauma or academic medical center.
- Familiarity with clinical research and read study protocols.
- Bilingual abilities or additional language skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- At least two years of recent inpatient Hematology and Oncology practice.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment with a focus on quality and patient safety.
Other Requirements:
- Clean medical file with minimal gaps; privilege processing depends on documentation completeness.
- Willingness to work approximately five shifts per week, with scheduled call as specified.
- Ability to start as early as March if the credentialing process is expedited and files are ready.
- Flexibility to accommodate initial onboarding timelines and credentialing procedures.
