Job description
A full-time Internal Medicine Nocturnist is needed to provide inpatient coverage on a 7-on/7-off night schedule. This role includes admissions, cross-coverage, and managing a modest inpatient census with full intensivist and specialty support. The Nocturnist will work in a collaborative environment with strong nursing and ancillary staff, using Paragon EMR. No on-call duties are required outside scheduled shifts.
Job Responsibilities
Perform admissions from ED and direct-referring providers
Complete thorough histories, physical exams, and diagnostic evaluations
Provide patient management including acute and ICU-level conditions (with intensivist support)
Document care in Paragon EMR per hospital and regulatory standards
Collaborate with nursing, case management, specialists, and ancillary teams
Coordinate safe and appropriate discharge planning
Participate in handoffs, interdisciplinary rounds, and quality initiatives
Maintain compliance with hospital bylaws and policies
Engage in CME, departmental meetings, and ongoing education
Support and mentor trainees or APPs as assigned
Qualifications
New York medical license or willingness to obtain
DEA certification
Clean malpractice and licensure history
1 year of hospitalist/nocturnist experience preferred
Must not require visa sponsorship
Not accepting locums or 1099 candidates
Working Hours
7 days on / 7 days off rotation
Every other weekend included within rotation
No on-call outside scheduled shifts

Excellent documentation in EMR
