A healthcare facility in Emporia, VA is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Primary Care Physician for locum coverage from December 2025 through mid-January 2026. This outpatient role involves providing comprehensive primary care to patients across all age groups in a rural Southern Virginia community.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct routine exams, diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
Perform minor office procedures such as suturing and incision & drainage.
Provide women’s health services such as pelvic exams and Pap smears (preferred).
Collaborate with virtual or on-site internal medicine physicians as needed.
Maintain accurate patient documentation using Epic EMR.
Ensure patient safety and follow established clinical protocols.
Qualifications
Active Virginia Medical License – REQUIRED at submission (no exceptions)
BLS Certification – REQUIRED
Minimum 1 year of outpatient experience preferred
Experience with multi-age patient populations (adult, pediatric, geriatric)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Working Hours
Preferred Days: Monday – Wednesday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (flexible based on availability)
On Call: None
Weekend Work: None
Skills
Proficiency with minor office procedures (suturing, I&D)
Familiarity with pediatric and adult outpatient protocols
EMR experience (Epic preferred)
