Full-time; Permanent
Seeking a Board-Certified Internal Medicine Program Director. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to oversee the Internal Medicine Residency Program in Huntsville, Alabama.
Overview:
- Hospital employed opportunity
- A 180-bed full-service acute care hospital
- 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) administrative/educational, non-clinical time
- 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week) clinical service in outpatient internal medicine (direct patient care and resident supervision)
- Develop the initial GME teaching program, including vision, mission, and curriculum
- Participate in submitting the initial program application for accreditation in conjunction with the sponsoring institution
- Recruit, appoint, evaluate, and retain program leadership (Associate Program Director, Core Faculty, Subspecialty Education Coordinators, Program Coordinator) in accordance with ACGME requirements
- Assist with and attend didactics/education activities, including lectures, journal club, M&M conferences, orientation week, simulation day, and research days
- Lead interview process for residency program candidates on select days
- Develop and ensure residents understand educational goals and rotation schedules
- Ensure residents receive required hands-on clinical training per ACGME internal medicine requirements
- Provide residents with informal and formal feedback throughout supervisory periods
- Complete and review formal evaluations at the end of each rotation
- Aggregate and share group/team feedback on resident performance when multiple supervisors are involved
Qualifications:
- Physician must be board-certified in the United States in the field of Internal Medicine
- Must have a genuine desire to teach and mentor residents
- Minimum of 3+ years of documented administrative and/or academic leadership experience required to ensure effective implementation of ACGME requirements
