Job description
Physicians are needed to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans on a PRN basis. This is a non-treatment role focused on structured evaluations, documentation, and reporting. Providers must live within the required radius of designated sites or have their own office location.
Job Responsibilities
Perform limited physical assessments (e.g., range of motion, muscle strength testing).
Document findings thoroughly, including addendums and medical opinions as needed.
complete required training and certification before beginning assignments.
Provide professional, respectful, and accurate evaluations in compliance with VA guidelines.
Qualifications
Active and unrestricted California medical license.
Proficient in METs testing and respiratory/cardiovascular evaluations.
Must own a laptop (non-Mac/Apple).
Willing to complete Disability Medical Assessment (DMA) certification.
Not actively employed at the VA or on active military duty/reserves.
Working Hours
Half-day (4-hour) or full-day (8-hour) options available.
Flexible scheduling; no call or weekend requirements.
Skills
Proficiency in structured, interview-based assessments.
Clear and accurate medical documentation/reporting.
Ability to work independently in an outpatient/exam setting.
Familiarity with VA disability and compensation processes.
