Job description
A hospital-employed opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Internal Medicine physician to join a well-established ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program as a Core Faculty Member. This role combines clinical inpatient responsibilities with teaching, mentorship, and academic development within a high-performing, regional referral center in the Southeast. Physicians passionate about medical education and scholarly activity are encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibilities
Supervise, mentor, and educate residents and medical students in clinical and academic settings
Participate in resident evaluations, morning reports, didactics, and scholarly projects
Serve on core GME committees including Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, and others
Engage in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Participate in faculty development and ongoing curriculum enhancement
Assist in resident recruitment and candidate interviews
Guide residents in scholarly activities such as case reports, QI projects, and publications
Qualifications
Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the ABMS
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency Program
Eligible for or currently holds an unrestricted Alabama medical license
ECFMG certification required for international medical graduates
Prior teaching or faculty experience strongly preferred
Working Hours
Clinical schedule includes daytime hospitalist shifts (7AM–7PM)
7 on / 7 off structure with dedicated time for faculty and academic responsibilities
No night call required

Ability to balance clinical duties with educational responsibilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfort navigating a fast-paced, inpatient hospital setting
Experience or interest in scholarly activity, including quality improvement and medical writing
