Summary:
The New Mexico Department of Health is implementing a pilot project to evaluate the
feasibility and effectiveness of providing primary care services out of its South-East
Heights Public Health Office (PHO). As part of this project, we are looking for a primary
care provider to provide a range of primary and preventive health care services, assist in
the establishing the clinic and support the evaluation of the project.

Heights Public Health Office (PHO). As part of this project, we are looking for a primary
care provider to provide a range of primary and preventive health care services, assist in
the establishing the clinic and support the evaluation of the project.
Job Responsibilities
• Conducting routine preventive health screenings and ensuring appropriate follow-up
• Ordering laboratory tests, diagnostic imaging studies, and other tests and reviewing
and interpreting their findings
• Prescribing or administering medications or other treatments
• Educating patients and/or their caregivers
• Referring patients for more specialized care
• Maintaining accurate and timely medical records
• Performing certain medical procedures depending on privileges granted.
Assists management and other staff in establishing the clinic to include developing and
implementing clinical protocols and procedures, workflows, and templates for electronic
medical records among other activities.
Supports the evaluation of the pilot project by participating in quality improvement efforts
that include providing informal and formal feedback, offering and implementing
recommendations for improvement, and participating in other quality improvement
efforts.
Essential Functions:
Provides a full range of primary and preventive health care services to include the
diagnosis and management of acute and chronic health conditions, behavioral and mental
health issues, and substance abuse disorders.
Assists in establishing the clinic and in ongoing quality improvement efforts.
Directs and oversees the work of the Medical Assistant.
Qualifications
Qualifications: Experience working with refugee populations and with translation services
preferred but not required.
Certifications/Requirements: Active State of New Mexico Controlled Substance
Registration, Federal DEA Registration, and CPR/BLS Certification.
Minimum Years of Experience: 3-5
Working Hours
Number of Weeks: 26 weeks to start; additional weeks may be added depending on the
findings from the evaluation of the project.
