Reading Hospital is seeking a Medical Bariatrician to join our very busy and growing Weight Management Center located 1 hour northwest of Philadelphia. The new Bariatrician should have an interest in Disease Prevention and Lifestyle Modification Counseling for its Obesity Medicine Program at the Weight Management Center. This physician will closely collaborate with the Program’s multidisciplinary team, including other Bariatricians, Bariatric Surgeons, Certified Nurse Practitioners, Registered Dietitians, Behavioral Health Provider and Registered Nurses. The Medical Bariatrician will evaluate and treat patients; perform physical examinations; make decisions regarding data gathering, appropriate management and treatment of illnesses and conditions; provide initial evaluations or follow up care of previously diagnosed conditions. The schedule is Monday through Friday (some Saturdays possible) with a variable day-evening schedule.

Job Responsibilities

Duties to Include:
Longitudinal care of the Obesity Medicine Program’s patients, which includes monitoring and following weight-induced comorbidities.
Prescribe weight loss medications, both FDA-approved and off-label. Experience preferred, but not required.
Monitor for side effects and interactions of weight loss medications.
Review and treat bariatric laboratory abnormalities.
Formulate diagnoses and therapeutic plans of care.
Interact with patients in-person, via phone and MyTowerHealth, an online patient communication system.
