Primary Care Physician Needed at the VAMC in Atlanta, Georgia

Place of Performance: Onsite at the VAMC and at Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and the Atlanta VA Health Care System (AVAHCS) 1670 Clairmont Road in Decatur, GA.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 7:00am-4:30pm with a ½ hour lunch.

Requirements:

  • Must have an MD/DO Degree from an accredited university.
  • Must have an active medical license in ANY state.
  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Primary Care, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
  • Must have an active BLS and ACLS Certification
  • Must have an active DEA registration.
  • Must be an U.S. Citizen

Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Scope of Care: Responsible for providing Primary Care services.
  • Consultation Responsibilities: Provide consultation with and instructions to referring physicians regarding appropriate management recommendations so that the most expeditious and clinically appropriate and timely patient care. Determine the appropriate course of treatment and communicate in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
  • Provide review of consults and next-day cases.
  • Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
  • Use VistaRAD to check electronic reports for accuracy and completeness, writing orders (i.e. lab, consults, and admission) and approve patient results via electronic signature.
  • Peer Reviews: Participate in the peer review process (12 per quarter) and meet all aspects of satisfactory performance through AVAHCS’ OPPE process.
