Internist - Physician - (Internal Medicine) Locum Tenens
StartDate: ASAP Available Shifts: 8 Hour/Day
A primary care physician is needed to provide services at this VA outpatient clinic while regular staff recruitment efforts are in progress. This locum tenens assignment will last for a period of six months, or until a permanent candidate can be identified. Working hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Internal medicine (locum tenens) is a branch of medicine characterized by an emphasis on treating the whole body, rather than specialized focus on one body part of system. Many people use internists as their first point of medical contact, and in this way these physicians function similarly to primary care doctors. Internists are trained to treat and diagnose a wide range of illnesses that affect the entirety of the biological system. When an illness proves to be advancing, exotic or complex, internists will usually refer their patients to specialists.
Required Qualifications
The physician shall be trained in internal medicine or family practice. Additionally, a BLS shall be obtained prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with the veteran population is considered a plus.
