Job description Locums Medical Director – Geriatrics Medicine Location: West Springfield, Massachusetts Key Requirements
  • Start Date: Immediate / TBD
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time
  • Board Certification: Internal Medicine or Family Practice (required); Geriatrics (preferred)
  • State License: Active Massachusetts plenary physician license (required)
  • DEA: Required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year working with frail or elderly populations (required)
    • Supervisory experience (required)
    • Geriatrics experience or additional qualifications (preferred)
Role Overview Position Type: Locum Tenens – Medical Director Population: Individuals aged 55+, certified to need nursing home care but living in the community when possible Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provide general medical direction and supervision of participant care
  • Oversee Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) program
  • Develop and maintain medical policies, procedures, and protocols
  • Supervise Primary Care Providers (PCPs) and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Conduct history & physicals on new participants, periodic reassessments, and event-based evaluations
  • Develop and manage medical treatment plans
  • Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams
  • Educate participants and families about health maintenance and chronic conditions
  • Supervise healthcare and treatment programs developed by the team
  • Perform physical exams, order and evaluate labs/diagnostic tests, and document results
  • Participate in provider on-call rotation
Qualifications & Skills
  • Effective physical assessment skills and chronic disease management for frail older adults
  • Ability to work in a creative alternate healthcare setting
  • Ability to manage changing priorities according to participant needs
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills
