Critical Care Physician Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $6,270–$7,420

• Contract Duration: Approximately 38 weeks, with potential for extension
• Schedule: 24-hour coverage preferred but not required; day coverage is 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. with overnight call from 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Patient Volume: Approximately 6–8 patients in a 10-bed ICU, with 8 beds currently open

Critical Care Physician Job Requirements

• Physician with at least 1 year of critical care or inpatient ICU experience
• Completion of a Critical Care fellowship
• Active Massachusetts physician license
• DEA registration and Massachusetts CSR required
• Ability to provide independent inpatient critical care coverage
• Comfort performing or managing critical care procedures, including central lines, arterial lines, thoracentesis, chest tubes, and paracentesis
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to high-quality patient care

Inpatient ICU Physician Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient critical care for adult ICU patients
• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients throughout the care continuum
• Work independently while coordinating care with available emergency and anesthesia support
• Perform or oversee central line and arterial line placement, thoracentesis, chest tube placement, and paracentesis as clinically appropriate
• Manage ventilated and medically complex patients, including airway and hemodynamic concerns
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, consultants, patients, and families
