Jefferson Health is seeking a part-time Cardiovascular ICU Intensivist to join our dynamic and collaborative team at Abington Hospital, a regional leader in advanced cardiac care.In this role, you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered care to critically ill cardiac patients, including those with complex cardiology and cardiac surgical needs. You will play a vital role in the management of patients requiring ECMO, mechanical circulatory support, and ventricular assist devices (VADs), working alongside a dedicated cardiac surgical team.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive critical care for cardiac surgery, ECMO, shock, and VAD patients.
- Participate directly in ECMO cannulation and management.
- Apply the latest research and best practices in critical care medicine to continuously enhance outcomes and quality metrics.
- Teach and mentor residents and medical students in critical care medicine.
- Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in administrative duties, committee service, and call coverage consistent with departmental standards.
Qualifications
- MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with eligibility for a Pennsylvania medical license.
- Board certified or board eligible in Critical Care Medicine through Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Surgery.
- Active clinical practice in critical care within the past 12 months required.
- Experience or expertise with ECMO, cardiothoracic surgery, lung transplantation, or liver transplantation highly desirable.
- Willingness to become independent with ECMO management required.
- Valid DEA registration (Controlled Substance License).
