Duration: 6–12 months, with an option to extend (not to exceed 12 months total)
Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week during normal business hours; requires availability for emergency, after-hours calls.
Education Level: Doctoral Degree in Medicine (MD or DO)
• Case Review & Public Health Decisions: Review follow-up x-rays, lab studies, treatment records, and nurse notes to make optimal medical and public health decisions. Determine the completion of TB therapy and preventive protocols.
• Medical Consultation: Provide expert medical consultation on tuberculosis and related communicable diseases to physicians, healthcare providers, local health departments, and laboratory personnel throughout the state.
• Education & Training: Educate and train physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, management, and prevention of tuberculosis. Lecture to professional audiences as needed.
• Research & Public Communications: Participate in research activities, special investigations, and epidemiologic studies. Prepare technical reports, scientific articles, and policy proposals. Conduct media interviews and public meetings regarding tuberculosis as required.
• Licensure: Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Oklahoma.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis is strongly preferred.

Position Responsibilities & Essential Functions
• Clinical Management of TB: Medically manage individuals with active tuberculosis across the state. Conduct diagnostic evaluations (x-ray interpretation, lab analysis), prescribe and manage drug therapy, handle adverse reactions, ensure completion of therapy, and provide preventive treatment to appropriate contacts.• Case Review & Public Health Decisions: Review follow-up x-rays, lab studies, treatment records, and nurse notes to make optimal medical and public health decisions. Determine the completion of TB therapy and preventive protocols.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical practice and disease management.• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis is strongly preferred.
