Seeking BE/BC Infectious Disease physician to join faculty team in San Antonio, TX. Currently, two infectious disease physicians care for the patients in addition to teaching, students, residents and fellows. We are looking to expand our staff to include another physician to meet the state’s increasing needs in TB patient care.

  • Monday-Friday
  • Inpatient management of general medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, anemia and stable chronic kidney disease in addition to the patients’ mycobacterial disease.
  • Rotate weekend call (from home)
  • Teach residents and fellows rotating from outside institutions such as UT San Antonio
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Unique and premier in-patient facility created to care for patients with tuberculosis.
  • Facility was built to support patient treatment and medical care while ensuring the safety and security of staff.
  • A patient’s stay can range from a few months to up to two years.
  • Patient rooms are designed to be more home-like than a typical hospital to accommodate longer stays, and each room is designed as an airborne isolation room with the heating and air conditioning ventilation system designed to allow the airflow to be changed from negative pressure to neutral when a patient is no longer contagious.

The physician will work Monday through Friday to provide inpatient management of general medical conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, anemia and stable chronic kidney disease in addition to the patients’ mycobacterial disease. The ID physicians will help direct the TB therapy, if the physician joining the practice is not familiar or comfortable with management of tuberculosis. The physician will also rotate weekends taking calls from home.
