Job Summary

Position Title: Infectious Disease Physician

Job Summary: The Infectious Disease Physician should have extensive training in internal medicine and specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious disease. The Specialist is responsible for focusing on how diseases spread, how the body fights them and how to control them.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient medical records, including x-rays, blood work and other lab tests
  • Review patient information of referrals from other medical professionals
  • Run diagnostic tests on patients with unidentified or drug resistant infections
  • Analyze test results to create a viable treatment plan for patients
  • Consult with other medical professionals about difficult infection cases
  • Be able to conduct a physical exam and order additional laboratory tests
  • Administer immunizations or instruct patients infectious disease prevention
  • Provide treatment regimens that are tailored to specific patient and population needs
  • Work closely with the communities to identify outbreaks and infectious diseases and recommend treatment options and measures to prevent diseases from spreading throughout the community
  • Conduct research on new strains of illness and keep track of community statistic s regarding spread and the effectiveness of treatment interventions

Qualifications

  • Valid NYS Medical License
  • Possess a certification of knowledge regarding the treatment, spread, containment and outcome for patients who are suffering from an infectious disease
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual, fluent Spanish strongly preferred
