The Medical Director Inpatient Administrator provides medical leadership and has responsibility for Health-care-related management. Responsibilities include facilitation of evidence-based and cost-effective professional and institutional services to our membership through oversight of the day to day operations as well as mentoring and assisting in the training of clinical and non-clinical leaders to ensure compliance with legal and requirements. Chairs and/or participates in various committees to support performance improvement, improve quality of medical care and the physician and patient experience - including, but not limited to oversight of peer review and risk management. Engages physicians to promote relationships and alignment with organizational goals. Office based no clinical.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

  • Oversees inpatient services with attention to average daily census and length of stay in contracted and non-contracted hospital facilities, Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facilities, Sub-Acute facilities, Skilled Nursing Facilities and Rehabilitation facilities.

  • Oversees patient steerage to preferred facilities.

  • Directs the high-risk patient care team in their management of complex members and implement processes to support end-of-life care as well as appropriate utilization of hospice and palliative care services.

  • Monitors the performance of network physicians with regard to the quality, utilization, and cost of care as well as meeting with physicians and especially outlier physicians as necessary to present such data and ensure compliance with goals and targets.

  • Analyzes clinical and financial data to develop and refine management activities, investigate and define sources of variation, and ensure conformance with standards and criteria.

  • Assists in managing and developing an effective network through mentoring, relationship-building and educating IPA physicians. This includes managing relationship with hospitals.

  • Works proactively and collaboratively across the organization to ensure overall business objectives are met and supported. Attends various meetings and participates on committees as appropriate contributing ideas for improving efficiency, productivity, and member satisfaction.​​

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of California, board-certification preferred required.

Minimum Experience: Seven (7) years of clinical inpatient care experience required. Some experience in medical leadership or oversight responsibilities, i.e. participation in hospital committees or Chief of Staff preferred.

Req. Certification/Licensure: Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of California, board-certification preferred required.
