Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently seeking multiple Hospitalists for IMMEDIATE service in at the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center (VAMC), 325 East “H” St. Iron Mountain, MI 49801. Physicians shall service the Acute Medical Inpatient Unit, the Urgent Care Clinic, the Community Living Centers (CLC), and/or perform as Medical Officer of the Day (MOD). MOD is the designated responsible physician who is physically present in an acute care facility during periods when the regular medical staff is not available or on duty. The Chief of Medicine, or designated representative, will determine assignments for Contractor’s physicians, as well as provide professional direction and clinical oversight. The Contractor’s physicians will be granted clinical privileges, as appropriate at the VA.

Facilities

The Acute Care Medical Inpatient Unit consists of 17 acute care beds. The VA Urgent Care is comparable to a Level IV-V Emergency Department in the private sector. It does not receive 911 ambulances. Urgent Care evaluate walk-in patients, some of whom may have emergency conditions. It has 6 beds and is open and staffed by contracted physicians, 24/7/365. The current average number of patients seen in Urgent Care per day is 20. The Community Living Center (CLC) has 40 beds, providing long-term, hospice, respite and rehabilitation care. There is no ICU.

Description
  1. Function as a full member of the multidisciplinary team serving patients at the OGJVAMC.
  2. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assess and provide acute care to adults. a) Appropriate clinical, laboratory and other pertinent data is obtained to determine care the patient is provided.
  3. Diagnosis--Interprets and evaluates clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status.
  4. Therapeutic Ability--Prescribes appropriate and timely treatment; applies indicated therapeutic procedures; recognizes and assesses changes in behavior, symptoms, signs, and other pertinent facts about the patient and modifies plan of treatment when indicated. Recognizes own capabilities and limitations.
  5. Effectiveness in Emergencies--The incumbent is readily available; and quick in recognizing emergency situations, and taking timely necessary action.
  6. Patient Management--Develops and maintains rapport and gains the confidence of patients and relatives through competence and interpersonal skills to the end that patients and others are informed participants in the treatment effort.
  7. Consultations and Specialty Skills--Recognizes the need for consultation and utilizing facility or clinic specialty skills in diagnosis and treatment.
  8. Have a diversified background and expertise in the treatment of complicated chronic medical conditions.
  9. Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure continuity of patient care.
  10. Maintain knowledge of new and current clinical methods.
  11. Use Computerized Medical Records System (CPRS) for entry of physician documentation and orders including medications, ancillary tests, and consults. a) Physical and other examinations and changes in patient's status as well as plans of care and outcomes for each patient are documented in accordance with policies and procedures.
  12. All encounters shall be completed daily.
  13. Ensure that all patient safety incidents are reported using the Patient Safety Report. All incidents shall be reported within 24 hours.

  • The MOD staffs the Emergency Department, the Acute Medical Inpatient Unit and the Community Living Center from the hours of 7:00 pm-7:00 am

Qualifications
  • Board-certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Current, active, and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. State or Territory
  • American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications
  • DEA licensure
  • Three (3) professional references (Name, Title, Facility, Email and/or Telephone)
