Job description
We are seeking a Hospitalist for a locum tenens position in Fresno, California. This assignment is based at a high-acuity tertiary referral hospital with a large, multi-shift hospitalist program offering day, swing, and night coverage. Please see below for more information.
- 685 licensed beds
- 424 med/surg beds
- 57-bed adult ICU and 30-bed neuro ICU (closed, with cardiology and CT surgery primary on their own surgical patients and critical care consulting)
- Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Burn Center
- EMR: Epic
Job Responsibilities
Round on an assigned patient panel within a large hospitalist program; the service carries a program-wide daily census of approximately 336 patients with approximately 53 admissions per 24 hours
Admit patients on the admitting service; swing and night services carry approximately 7-9 admissions each
Coordinate with the closed ICU service, with cardiology and CT surgery remaining primary on their own surgical patients
Respond to codes involving your own patients; Code Blue is led by critical care, with airway and access managed by the intensivist
Respond to all rapid response events in house
Supervise advanced practice providers
Practice independently across the full scope of inpatient adult medicine, managing an inpatient service without direct oversight
Document all clinical care in Epic
Qualifications
Active California medical license required
ACLS certification required
Epic charting experience required
Working Hours
Day rounding: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Day admitting: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Swing: 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.
Swing: 2:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.
Night: 5:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
Night: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Night: 8:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Swing shift start times may be adjusted based on admission timing patterns
