Job description
We are seeking a Hospitalist for a locum tenens position in Fresno, California. This assignment is based at a scheduled surgical hospital with no emergency department and no emergent admissions, where the hospitalist provides medical management for a pre-planned surgical population alongside a closely engaged surgical staff. - 48 med/surg beds
- 9-bed ICU (open unit; surgeon primary with hospitalist consulting)
- EMR: Epic
Job Responsibilities
Serve as consulting physician on ICU patients, with the operating surgeon remaining primary
Collaborate directly with surgical colleagues, who remain heavily involved in patient care
Manage a day service census of approximately 28 patients; night coverage includes cross-cover of approximately 28 patients with approximately 7 admissions
Lead code blue and rapid response events; anesthesia performs all intubations and procedures
Respond with the rapid response team
Provide cross-cover medicine calls for patients at an affiliated behavioral health facility
Supervise advanced practice providers
Practice independently across the full scope of inpatient adult medicine, managing an inpatient service without direct oversight
Document all clinical care in Epic
Qualifications
Active California medical license required
ACLS certification required
Epic charting experience required
Working Hours
Day shift: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Night shift: 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
No call required
