Overview
A hospital in Mason City, IA is seeking a Locum OB Hospitalist to support labor and delivery services due to ongoing coverage needs. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling with in-house shifts and the chance to work in a collaborative teaching hospital environment.
Practice Highlights
• Approximately 500–600 births per year
• Collaborative care team including OBGYNs, family medicine residents, pediatric hospitalists, NICU nurses, pharmacists, and lactation consultants
• Teaching hospital with residency program and medical student rotations
• EMR: Epic
• Nursing Support: 1:1 with additional Birth Center staff
Schedule & Coverage
• Start: ASAP
• 24-hour in-house shifts
• Shift scheduling: 24–96 hour blocks
• Average ~4 shifts per month (as needed)

• May 3 (7p) – May 4 (7a)
• May 5 (7a) – May 9 (7a) (only 3 days consecutively approved)
• May 13 (7a – 5p)
• May 17 (7p) – May 21 (7a)
• May 24 (7p) – May 25 (7a)
• Jun 4 (7a) – Jun 5 (7a)
• Jun 8 (7p) – Jun 9 (7a)
• Jun 10 (7a) – Jun 11 (7a)
• Jun 19 (7a) – Jun 21 (7a)
Responsibilities
• Oversee Labor & Delivery unit
• Triage OB patients and manage admissions
• Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Manage high-risk and low-risk obstetric cases
• Provide urgent gynecological consultations and procedures
• Support teaching and mentoring of residents and staff
• Assist OB/GYN colleagues with complex surgical cases when needed
Candidate Requirements
• Board Certified in OBGYN – REQUIRED
• Active Iowa License – REQUIRED
• Fellowship Training in Obstetrics & Gynecology – REQUIRED
• Clean Malpractice and Background History – REQUIRED
• NPDB Self-Query (within current month) – REQUIRED
• Must indicate which coverage dates provider can work
