Job Title: Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO)
Location: Southeastern Vermont
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $300,000 – $350,000 annually

Position Overview

A not-for-profit community hospital in southeastern Vermont is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician to join its established inpatient team. This role provides the opportunity to practice comprehensive hospital medicine in a collaborative, rural healthcare setting serving a multi-state population.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient care including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges

• Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions

• Respond to codes and rapid response situations

• Provide ventilator management

• Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, respiratory therapy, emergency medicine providers, and ancillary services

• Order and interpret diagnostic studies and imaging

• Document all patient encounters in the EMR

• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives

• Support safe and effective care transitions

No procedures are required. Specialty support is available for central lines and other procedural needs.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

• Active Vermont medical license (or ability to obtain)

• DEA (required prior to start)

• BLS and ACLS certifications

• Experience running codes

• Ventilator management experience

• Clean malpractice history

Preferred:

• 2–3 years of hospitalist experience

• Rural healthcare experience

Additional Notes:

• Full-time position only (not open to locum candidates)

• Must reside within reasonable commuting distance (over one hour not considered)
