Job Title: Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO)
Location: Southeastern Vermont
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $300,000 – $350,000 annually
Position Overview
A not-for-profit community hospital in southeastern Vermont is seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician to join its established inpatient team. This role provides the opportunity to practice comprehensive hospital medicine in a collaborative, rural healthcare setting serving a multi-state population.
Responsibilities

Provide inpatient care including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges

Evaluate and manage acute and chronic medical conditions

Respond to codes and rapid response situations

Provide ventilator management

Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, respiratory therapy, emergency medicine providers, and ancillary services

Order and interpret diagnostic studies and imaging

Document all patient encounters in the EMR
-
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives
-
Support safe and effective care transitions
No procedures are required. Specialty support is available for central lines and other procedural needs.
Qualifications
-
MD or DO from an accredited medical school
-
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Active Vermont medical license (or ability to obtain)

DEA (required prior to start)

BLS and ACLS certifications

Experience running codes
-
Ventilator management experience
-
Clean malpractice history
Preferred:
-
2–3 years of hospitalist experience

Rural healthcare experience
Additional Notes:

Full-time position only (not open to locum candidates)

Must reside within reasonable commuting distance (over one hour not considered)
