Job description
Job Title: Permanent Hospitalist Physician
Join a dedicated team at a 61-bed not-for-profit community hospital located in the picturesque southeastern region of Vermont. Our facility is committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate, patient-centered care to a rural population across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. We are seeking a full-time Hospitalist Physician (MD/DO) to become part of our collaborative and mission-driven medical staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide direct medical care for hospitalized patients including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions.
- Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.
- Collaborate closely with specialists, primary care providers, nurses, and ancillary services.
- Coordinate patient care plans ensuring smooth transitions of care.
- Order, interpret, and act on laboratory tests and diagnostic studies.
- Document all patient encounters and care plans in the EMR.
- Respond to medical emergencies including codes and rapid response situations.
- Provide ventilator management.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Participate in hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and medical ethics.
- No procedures required and specialty backup available.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (Internal Medicine or Family Medicine).
- Active Vermont Medical License.
- DEA must be obtained prior to start.
- BLS and ACLS Certifications.
- Ventilator management experience.
- Experience running codes.
- 2-3 years Hospitalist experience (highly preferred).
- Rural health experience (highly preferred).
- Clean malpractice history.
- Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days active).
License and Certification Requirements:
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school – Required.

- Active Vermont Medical License – Required.
- DEA Certification – Required.
- BLS Certification – Required.
- ACLS Certification – Required.
