Locums Hospitalist Need in Georgia

Coverage Needed

• Start Date: As soon as credentialed
• End Date: Ongoing
• 12 Hour Shifts: 0700-1900 for the rounders, 0800-2000 for the admitter, 1900-0700 for the nocturnist
• 7 on, 7 off

Clinical Details

• Level 3 Trauma - Trauma patients are assigned directly to the Surgicalist
• Bed Size: 190
• Patients Per Day: Rounding on 18-24 patients
• Daily Admissions: 12-18 during the day, 12-20 at night
• Consults: 1-5 per day
• Patient Population: Community med/surg/ Elderly: 58%, Middle Age: 32%, Young: 10%
• Census: Acute ADC 104; Total ADC 121 (average for 2025)
• ICU Rounding
• Procedures: Initial Vent Management (Vent bundle required), Vasopressor Titration, Anti-arrhythmic, Nicardipine drips, central lines, paracentesis, Thoracentesis (preferred)
  • Subsequent Vent Management is deferred to the Intensivist who staffs the vent for 8 physical in house hours every day
• Support Staff: Normal for a community hospitalist; some sub-specialty support
• Follow Up Cases: Referrals made to community PCPs
• Open ICU hospitalist model

Requirements

• Board Certification: IM or FP with hospitalist experience
• Experience: Competency with ICU admissions, running codes, and critical care rounding of up to 8 CCU patients is mandatory
• Skills: Must be able to independently resuscitate a patient before help arrives; adept at critical care time billing
• Case Logs: Preferred 2 years
• Procedures and Vent Management: Preferred
• DEA must remain in state to maintain privileges. Provider must be willing transfer and maintain DEA in state for the duration of privileges being active, or obtain a new in state DEA to remain in state for the duration of privileges being active
• Providers living inside of 50 miles from the facility will be considered “Local”, and will not be eligible for this role
• Active GA license
